Lady Gaga Climbs Ev'ry High Note in 'Sound of Music' Tribute

For the 50th anniversary of The Sound of MusicLady Gaga belted out a gorgeous medley of songs from the film at the 2015 Oscars. Clad in white and accompanied by a string section, Gaga sang four tracks from the film and musical's soundtrack — "The Sound of Music," "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss" and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."
Scarlett Johansson introduced the tribute, which followed John Legend and Common's moving performance of "Glory" and win for Best Song. Johansson's transition into discussing the legacy of The Sound of Music was an awkward one, including a comparison of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Selma-to-Montgomery voting-rights march — the inspiration for "Glory" and the film Selma — to the impact of the musical film. (The march also celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year.) The tribute was immediately followed by Julie Andrews presenting the award for Best Original Score to Alexandre Desplat for The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Sound of Music swept the Oscars the year it was nominated. Winning five statues, including Best Picture and Best Music, the film also garnered nominations for Julie Andrews and Peggy Wood for lead and supporting actress respectively.
In 2013, Carrie Underwood tackled Andrews' legendary role of Maria in The Sound of Music Live! event. The televised musical event was nominated for four Emmy Awards, winning for its technical direction. Gaga most recently performed at the Grammy Awards this month where her collaborative album with Tony Bennett,Cheek to Cheek, won for Best Traditional Pop Vocal album. Both her Grammy and Oscars appearances were similarly subdued with only tinges of her signature theatricality.

Lady Gaga is engaged to marry actor Taylor Kinney after he proposed on Valentine's Day --
UPDATE: Gaga confirmed the engagement herself via Instagram on Monday, Feb. 16, sharing a picture of her huge, heart-shaped diamond ring. "He gave me his heart on Valentine's Day, and I said YES!" she captioned the photo.

You and I, for life! Lady Gaga is engaged to marry actor Taylor Kinney after he proposed on Valentine’s Day, Us Weekly can confirm.
After Kinney popped the question, the couple celebrated at Gaga’s family's restaurant, Joanne Trattoria, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Times Herald-Record executive editor Barry Lewis told Us. On Monday, Feb. 16, Gaga, 28, stepped out in NYC, grinning from ear to ear, strategically concealing her ring finger under a purple fur coat.

The singer and her fiancĂ© first met on the 2011 set of Gaga's "You & I" music video, which was shot in Nebraska. Ironically, Gaga wore her mother's actual wedding gown in scenes of the racy video, which starred the Chicago Fire hunk as the object of her affection. They started dating several months later, and split briefly in May 2012. The following month, the inseparable lovebirds got back together.
Since their rough patch in 2012, the stars have been more in love than ever. In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Gaga admitted that she would marry Kinney if he proposed.
"He is the right guy," she gushed of her beau. "How do we know? It's this feeling..."
Kinney, meanwhile, spoke fondly about the songstress to Us in April 2014, admitting that she pushes him to be better. "[She] is someone who’s always in your corner, that believes in you and your work, and vice versa," the Other Woman actor shared. "You know, I love what she does and her work and music and charity. She inspires so many people including myself."
As for what their wedding will look like? Gaga previewed it to Stern, joking: "If I get married, I'll be hanging out in a pickup truck at a David's Bridal while my stylist is screaming at me."

Congratulations Grammy Winners , Lady Gaga and Mr.Tony Bennett, an Amazing Album by 2 Amazing Artists, A Beautiful Collaboration at its Best!!!!

Watch Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett Get Cheeky at the Grammys

The pair sang the title track of their collaborative album, 'Cheek to Cheek,' in the round

The enduring and enduringly unlikely pairing of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performed the title track of their 2014 collaboration album Cheek to Cheek on the Grammys. Singing in the round, the sparkly-dressed Gaga sang the opening lines, "Heaven, I'm in Heaven," while coming around the piano to Bennett. When the crooner piped in, he barked the same line, the jazz music kicked up and Gaga began dancing. They then danced together for the instrumental break.
The album Cheek to Cheek had been nominated for only one award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Between the pair, though, they have accumulated 23 Grammys, with Bennett snagging 17 (including a whopping 11 for Best Traditional Pop Vocal only) and Gaga grabbing six for her debut The Fame (and subsequent deluxe edition The Fame Monster).
Gaga's last performance at the ceremony was in 2011, when she emerged from an egg to sing "Born This Way." The year before, she opened the show by performing "Poker Face" followed by a mash-up of her single "Speechless" with Elton John's "Your Song," who joined the British singer-songwriter.
Bennett's last Grammy appearance was a performance of "It Had to Be You" with country singer Carrie Underwood in support of his nominated album Duets II. The album was the first to feature a collaboration between Bennett and Gaga: their duet on the Rodgers & Hart classic "The Lady Is a Tramp."
Gaga has never hidden her superfan status and mentee appreciation when it comes to Bennett, and the pop star has had her own chance recently to act in a mentor role for fellow nominee Sam Smith. Following his reveal that he once got detention for skipping class to see Gaga in his Rolling Stone cover story, Gaga offered some words of wisdom. "Continue to suffer for your art," she offered to Smith. "But don't allow anyone around you who is not putting your talent and happiness first."

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Are Making a Second Album Together a follow-up to 'Cheek to Cheek'

The 'ARTPOP' princess and the 88-year-old standards icon will release a follow-up to 'Cheek to Cheek'
LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 05: Musicians Tony Bennett (L) and Lady Gaga pose backstage during The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards a
Last year pop star Lady Gaga stunned the world by teaming up with standards singer and American icon Tony Bennett. The dynamic duo first released a jazzy take on the Broadway classic "Anything Goes," later sharing the much-covered '20s tune, "I Can't Give You Anything But Love." In September they dropped Cheek to Cheek, an entire collaborative record of covers, one Gaga would later say stopped her from completely quitting music.
Fast forward to February 2015, and Tony Bennett has confirmed that another album is on its way.

In an interview with the LA Times, Bennett spoke about his new partner in crime. "She's a very good singer," he said. "She's not a flash in the pan. That's why I had to do these great standards. And it's really paying off because the album's so big. Now we're about to record an album of all Cole Porter songs. That'll be the second album."
The pair sure know how to pick a legendary icon! That goes twofold for Gaga, who recently covered 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up" and was seen in the studio with everyone's favorite BeatlePaul McCartney.

Lady Gaga Looking Stunning Indeed flashes some serious flesh in sparkling black Versace gown

She usually draws attention for her wild costumes and get-ups.
But on Friday Lady Gaga, 28, turned heads in a simple but very revealing black gown at the MusiCares 2015 benefit concert.
The Poker Face hitmaker was seen flaunting her assets while walking the red carpet at the Los Angeles Convention Center with her close friend, 88-year-old fellow singer Tony Bennett.

The Bad Romance songstress donned an Atelier Versace gown - which showed off a generous amount of side boob - and a host of dazzling jewels, designed by Lorraine Schwartz.
She appeared to be wearing a platinum blonde curled wig and her makeup included exaggerated cut crease silver and black eyeshadow with a natural nude lip.
Lady Gaga - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - is gearing up to perform with Bennett at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, scheduled to air at 8/7c on CBS.

Make a statement in a plunging Versace gown

She loves to make a statement does Lady Gaga - whether she's wearing a dress made of meat, a Christmas tree in her barnet, or has hundreds of Kermit the frogs attached to her ensemble. But when she attended the MusiCares event, she turned heads for different reasons. She wasn't the wackiest dressed, but she shocked everyone by donning a relatively normal ensemble - a plunging Versace gown.
The piece was embellished with sequins and the lower half was sheer, exposing her pins beneath and she accessorised with statement Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Brian Attwood heels.
The stunning black dress looked gorgeous next to the contrast of her white-blonde hair and it was nice to see Gaga looking classy rather than over-the-top or exposing too much.
Here at Fashion Finder we do love a good sparkle, so because you can't buy Lady Gaga's dress, we've found some alternative shimmering numbers below.

Lady Gaga reveals she HUNG UP on Paul McCartney when he called her as she reveals new collaboration

She's one of the most well-known celebrities in the world, but even Lady Gaga gets starstruck.
The 28-year-old pop star was so taken aback after receiving a call from The Beatles legend Paul McCartney that she hung up,  wrongly assuming it was a prank caller.
While revealing that the pair are collaborating on some new material, Gaga shared the faux pas with her fans.
Living legend: Lady Gaga shared this photo of herself and Paul McCartney on Tuesday, writing, 'I'll never forget when he called me last year to work and I hung up the phone cuz I thought it was a prank!'

'Always a good time with my buddy,' she wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, with a snap of her and Sir Paul in the studio.
'I'll never forget when he called me last year to work and I hung up the phone cuz I thought it was a prank!' the Cheek To Cheek hitmaker added.
While standing behind Paul, Gaga's right hand is resting on his shoulder, and the other is holding up a peace sign.
The Applause songstress is visibly excited to be working with the influential rocker, spotted smiling while wearing a white floral halter dress and long brunette wig.

Building anticipation: The pop star added this group photo, writing, 'Had a beautiful session with Sir Paul McCartney and friends. Working on one of his many secret projects! Killer musicians, vibe, and lots of laughs'

Only time will tell what's brewing between the two.
Prior to their session, the New York native shared a fresh-faced snap of herself donning athletic wear to work up a sweat.
'Morning work out, rehearsal, then studio. (heart) another beautiful day time to kick its ass! Start your day with happiness! trust me it gives me much more everyday than money or fame ever will,' she wrote.

Gaga isn't the only younger musician Paul has worked with as of late.
The 18-time Grammy Award winner will appear alongside Kanye West and Rihanna at the Grammys this Sunday.
The trio will perform their new single FourFiveSeconds for the first time at the awards show.
